Kumquat seeds

The kumquat seeds Shrek planted have flourished and miraculously grown. We still have a long way to go until we can actually cueillir les premiers fruits but I declare it a victory in itself that the seeds scattered into the soil on our bac sur le balcon has actually given way to greenery and flourishing plants. They will need to be repotted into a pot for the indoors as the dreaded winter is coming...

My Nursery

Flowers in bloom or in waiting
My Nursery consists of three orchids and a mini Lady orchid which is just oh so cute in its minisculity as well as a lone orange lily plant which is just hanging on it seems.

Two of the orchids are thriving with the flowers in bloom still fresh as ever. The other one has buds and is showing promising signs of blooming. I am especially proud of the one that is promising great blooming/flowering potential as it is the first time one of the orchids I tend to actually flowers without any boost or fertiliser whatsoever. It survived and thrived solely on photosynthesis/sunlight and water and fresh air (as fresh as un apartement enfermé peut offrir)

Orchids

I now have three orchids to care for. I decided after the summer that all outdoor plants were too much work. I could indeed keep them alive if I wanted to or could be bothered but now I have many more tasks to contend with namely the endless household chores and child-rearing.

Add to the mix homework and extra-curricular activities and that leaves me very little time left to take care of plants.

My orchids are showing good signs as their leaves are renewing...hopefully they will flower and I will be overjoyed !

Week 12/52

My latest preoccupation is with my blooming tulips

My ever imaginative and oh so clever as well as creative Petit Suisse's creation which showcases his impressive handicraft skills.

The tulips are alive

I could hardly believe my eyes when I set them on my balcony recently. The tulip bulbs I had planted in September and subsequently forgot about had survived the frost, the snow, the unforgiving sub-zero temperatures and were thriving. They are going to flower in May.

I do not know why but I am damn excited about the prospective flowering of tulips that I planted. I am no longer death maiden to plants. Tulips and another evergreen tree have survived. Hoorah, hoorah.

I had to include photographic evidence because it has been one of the rare occasions that I have successfully planted something that comes to fruition or flower in the case of tulips.

My green thumb

Much to my incredulity and total diffidence re my ability to elevate and grow plants on my balcony. They did in fact not only survive but thrived gloriously as evidenced by the pictorial depictions/digital images above. Excuse the poor quality of my now defunct Olympus and sombre lighting (natural). It is a sight to behold, at least in my eyes.

I did not capture the images when the plants were in their full glory so I have to settle with less than desirable and second rate images, better that than none.

Excitement

My kids and I don't need much to get excited about.

The sight of a green budding and promising tomato on our beloved tomato branch mmade us giddy with joy.
